Why the Bathroom Drain Gets Clogged

Hair, soap residue, and limescale deposits are the most common causes. With regular prevention and the right methods, you can often clear the clog yourself in just a few minutes.
Home Remedies for Light Clogs

Baking soda and vinegar: Add 4 tablespoons of baking soda into the drain, then half a cup of vinegar. Wait 15 minutes and flush with hot water.
Hot water: Boil 2 liters of water and pour it slowly into the drain. Repeat the process twice.
Mechanical Cleaning

Plunger: Place the plunger over the drain, cover the overflow, and pump vigorously up and down.
Drain snake: Carefully insert the snake into the pipe and turn it until resistance lessens. Then flush with hot water.
Prevention

Use a hair catcher in the drain, flush once a week with hot water, and avoid pouring fats or oils down the sink.
When to call a professional: If water still doesn’t drain after several attempts, or a musty smell arises, there may be a deeper clog—then a plumber is needed.
